Team RFC was originally
established in Southern California as a fellowship for Christians in the
sport of motor racing, and has grown into a ministry organization with
impact across North America and beyond. The primary purpose of Team RFC is
to address the emotional and spiritual needs of individuals in motorsports
through pastoral care, fellowship, evangelism, and service.
Today, Team RFC ministers on
the local, regional, national, and international levels in the world of
motorsports. And what a world this is! Team RFC is active in:
- Auto and Motorcycle
racing (drag racing, circle track, road racing, and off-road)
- Boat, Airplane, and BMX
racing
- Hot Rodding and
Antique, Vintage, and Classic Vehicle Restoring (car shows, concours
events, cruise-ins, and rod runs)
- Rockcrawling, Truck and
Tractor Pulling, and Antique Farm Equipment Restoring
Team RFC’s ministry is growing
at a tremendous rate, and we strive to keep-up with the many opportunities
that God sends our way. With a staff of more than 200 individuals, 95% of
whom volunteer their time, Team RFC performs over 1,400 ministry activities
each year including chapel services, invocations, calls on the sick or
injured, Bible studies, weddings, baptisms, memorial services, and much
more. For individuals who, due to their hobby or profession, are rarely
able to attend a traditional weekend service, Team RFC can become their
church fellowship with every essential service that a local church provides
in areas of ministry and pastoral care.
Our pre-race chapel services
are expanding with enormous success, as RFC staff members conduct 700 chapel
services each year, with attendance more than 450 in some cases. An
increasing number of racers, crew members, sponsors, track workers, and fans
are becoming involved every day, contributing to our rapid growth in recent
years.
In the United States, it is
estimated that one-third of the population follow motorsports events each
year; it is the fastest growing spectator sport in America.
Internationally, the television audience for motorsports is surpassed only
by the Olympics and World Cup Soccer. Recognizing that life is more than
just a mechanized existence, Team RFC uses this growing popularity as a
“platform” from which to express its message of love, inspiration, and
encouragement to individuals who are involved in motorsports.
