Make It Memorable
Do you have a
favorite quote, possibly from a famous or knowledgeable person? Maybe a
short tidbit of knowledge that you like to use as a guiding principle? Mine
would likely be from Louis Pasteur, “Chance favors the prepared mind.” A
supplement to this would be John C. Maxwell’s belief that, “When opportunity
presents itself, it is too late to prepare.”
Do you have a
favorite Bible passage? Considering that the Bible was written by men who
were inspired and led by the Lord, there is no better guide to life than all
of the quotes it contains. The neat part about Bible verses is that they
seem to speak to us in different ways at different times, depending on our
situation when reading them. Still, there are some that speak to you all the
time. Some people find comfort in John 3:16,
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his
one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but
have eternal life.”
My favorite, which
I may have mentioned in a previous article, and have in the signature of any
posting I put on a web board, is John 3:17, “God
sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world
through him”. Maybe this is my favorite because my curiosity is always how
and why something works (I am a mechanical engineer). I always
find it interesting when I see a quote someone where you might not expect it,
like on a racecar. Consider the drag racing legend Don Garlits’ had a quote
from 1 John 4:16, “God is Love” on all of his cars following his clutch
explosion accident.
If you have a favorite, find a
way to share it with everyone! You never know who it might reach out to. If
you don’t have one yet, keep reading the Bible. One will certainly speak to
you in an eye-opening moment.
