Be Reassured
by the Word
How do I know that the Lord wants
me for his own, even when I don’t feel I am worthy of His love?
The New Testament of the Bible is
full of examples, passages and stories of how and why the Lord sent his only
son to save us. In Paul’s letter to the Colossians, Paul explains that,
“Christ is the visible image of the invisible God” (Col. 1:15).
Paul goes on to explain the way
we fit in: “…through (Christ) God has reconciled everything to himself. He
made peace with everything in heaven and earth by means of Christ’s blood on
the cross. THIS INCLUDES YOU WHO WERE ONCE FAR AWAY FROM GOD. You
were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet
now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his
physical body.
As a result, he has brought you
into his own presence, and YOU ARE HOLY AND BLAMELESS AS YOU STAND BEFORE
HIM WITHOUT A SINGLE FAULT. But you must continue to believe this truth
and stand firmly in it. “Don’t drift away from the assurance you received
when you heard the Good News…” (Col. 1:20-23)
Do not let your past prevent you
from having a future with the Lord. Satan will surely be at work on you to
bring you down. He will try and have you believe that any shame you have
from any of your previous thoughts and deeds won’t allow you to be saved, but
that could not be further from the truth! Cast away your guilt, your
indecision, your hesitation and do not waiver in your desire to be right with
the Lord, because he has reconciled with you. Have the faith to believe and
trust what the Good Book tells you.
