Prepare Ye The Way!
Have you seen the movie “Evan
Almighty”? It is certainly an enjoyable film for the whole family. It is
funny and contains some good messages as well. One message that stood out to
me was where God, played by Morgan Freeman, explains that in your
relationship with God, don’t ask him for patience, ask him for the
opportunity to practice patience. He gives a number of examples along the
same line.
This certainly makes for an
excellent message that can be carried throughout our daily lives. Instead of
asking God for something like success, or peace, or money, show God that you
truly desire in your heart to please him, and you are willing to take the
responsibility for it by asking God for the opportunity to succeed, or to
make peace, or to raise money.
I was recently asking God in a
prayer to help me to lose weight and to be healthier when it struck me that I
was doing it wrong. I realized that I needed to show God that I was willing
to take the responsibility for the gift of life that he has given me and that
I desire to show Him that I can treat it in a way that is pleasing to Him,
and I asked for his support.
Consider your prayers as a
calling out to the Lord for His glory to be revealed. The Bible tells us in
Isaiah 40: 3-5 (King James Version), “The voice of him that crieth in the
wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a
highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and
hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough
places plain:
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all
flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”
