Coincidence or Divine Direction?

Everyone’s relationship with Christ is different.  Some use it like their show cars, mostly kept away and brought out on special occasions.  Others use it as their daily driver and rely on it constantly to get them everywhere.

I know my relationship with Christ has grown a lot in the last 2 years I’ve been a chaplain, and I continue to receive increased blessings, or at least I’m more aware of them.

For example, the other day I was at work and got a call from a customer to head over to their facility.  They are on the other side of Chicago and this would completely change my hours and route home for that day.  It seemed like an inconvenience, but I needed to go regardless.  I did what I had to do and actually got home a little early.  Once home I had the news on TV and they were reporting a breaking story that, had I been on my regular route home at my regular time, would have put me in the wrong place at the wrong time!  On 1/19/05 at 4:45 pm a barge carrying 500,000 gallons of clarified slurry oil exploded and blew debris onto the nearby Cicero Avenue bridge. As the fire raged on, huge flames and black smoke spewed over 100 feet into the air. After an hour the fire was extinguished only after the barge sank into the Sanitary and Shipping Canal.  Traffic was completely blocked around the entire area.

This is almost exactly when I pass over that very bridge everyday on the way home.  It was very easy to see how the Lord changed my daily routine to keep me safe.  So my advice to you is to fill ‘er up, put on your seat belt, and take your relationship for a ride.
