To understand the purpose of our lives we must accept the premise that God was with us at the beginning…even before we were created in the womb. None of us, not one, was an accident. God doesn't play dice.
At our birth He was a "smiling silent witness." So we were created in some fashion with His approval. That may be hard to accept with birth defects, unplanned pregnancies, and early deaths…but God knew about our creation before it happened and all have the capacity to bring glory to God. Each one of us!
I remember the true story of a child born with severe cerebral palsy. He could understand, think, and feel the same emotions that we do but as hard as he tried he could not make his body follow his brain’s commands. It was as though he was being held prisoner inside this "defective body." Many cried out, "Why does God allow such things?
When he became an adult, his parents, who were believing Christians, would bring him in his wheelchair to their prison ministry. They placed him in an environment of hardened criminals, rapists, and violent men…even murderers. They explained to them that just as they (the criminals) were held prisoner in this jail, their son was held prisoner in his body. But all could see the light of Jesus shining in his eyes, regardless of his physical circumstance. One after another, many of these hardened criminals rose above their circumstances and realized the truth of Jesus Christ. Many wept and accepted Christ because of this body that many would consider defective. We all can bring glory to God.
Never forget that God considers us…all of us, valuable enough to keep with Him for all of eternity. All we need to do is to believe and accept Christ as our avenue to restored acceptance by God.
