Here in the North Central Region our racing season is drawing to a close. As I go through the pits talking with our great people, one thing is obvious to me: there are a lot of hurting people here. I talk with people suffering through the pain of divorce. Some deal with the loss of someone close to them. As I talk and pray with a man with cancer who is going in to search for a new treatment in hope of more time, one thing becomes clear. Life is fragile and we never know what lies ahead around the next corner.
If only everyone walked with the Lord in this life! Maybe we all need to read Psalm 23 more often, and pause on the meaning of His love and caring. Those of us that know the Lord have a Comforter way beyond the imagination of those that don’t. It is also important to realize that the best lies ahead of us. When is the last time you read about the glories of our heavenly retirement home? Knowing that is what is in store for us can change our perspective. Even the best here on this earth can’t compare to what lies ahead in glory.
Someone once said you can’t get to a mountain top without going through a valley. The best of life is truly a valley compared to the mountain top experience of heaven promised to those that love Christ. That should give us a positive attitude regardless of where we are in life.
