In Team RFC’s Region 6, we have a very nice drag racing facility located at Ashcroft, British Columbia, Canada. This track is located on Canadian Highway 1, about three hours north of the border. The NHRA Division 6 Summit ET Finals were held at this facility this year.
My route to this track is very scenic as Highway 1 follows the Frasier River for nearly 150 kilometers from Hope, B.C. to Cache Creek. This road has twists and turns and is bordered by mountains and ravines while climbing in elevation over 3,500 feet. There are numerous opportunities for river rafting, mountain climbing, hiking, and even a tramway which gives rides down to the river.
It was on one stretch of this highway that I came up behind a slow-moving truck with a heavy load. After following for several miles, the driver could tell that I was anxious to pass because I kept moving across the line trying to see if the road were clear. Each time either a curve or hill made it impossible to see what lay ahead and therefore it was unsafe to pass.
However, as we neared the crest of one hill, I saw the driver extend his hand out of his window and signal for me to pass. As I moved my car to his left I could not see the road ahead. Yet the truck driver, who was traveling ahead of me and sitting higher than I, could see over the crest of the hill. Would I trust him? Should I make this pass? Should I trust him with my future?
There are many times in our lives when we face uncertainty regarding events in our future. Sometimes we may wonder, "What is God going to send my way?"
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
I trusted that truck driver and made the pass. He saw the highway ahead and knew that it was safe. If I trust a human that I have never met, do I have the faith to trust the Lord? He has plans for my future and He only wants the best for me.
