Changing seasons is a way of life in the Northeast. It’s something that we look forward to. Fall has always been one of the best seasons for me. With the changing of the leaves and the temperature cooling off, it seems a lot more pleasing. I can’t imagine how it would be without changes, and I wouldn’t want to move to Florida with its hurricanes or California and all of the earthquakes to find out.
Changes can be for the better and some can be for the worst. As I travel around in the pits between rounds, I come across some of you changing the jet size on carbs, timing, or a dozen other things. You are looking to get a little more for the next round. I usually try to stop back after that next run and see how things went; they don’t always go the way we would like. Then I will hear that phrase “I should have left well enough alone.” Yet the fact remains things were not going right in the first place and not making a change you would have been guaranteed the same results as before which would not have been any better, plus you would always wonder what would of happen if you had made the change.
One thing in life that you don’t have to worry about changing is the Lord. He tells us in His word “I am the Lord, and I do not change.” (Malachi 3:6) Furthermore, when you put your trust in Him, He promises us “Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven’s lights. Unlike them, he never changes or cast shifting shadows. In his goodness he chose to make us his own children by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his choice possession.” (James 1:17-18) If there are any changes to be made let Him take care of them for you, all you will need to do is follow Him. Let’s have fun out there and look for the blessings.
