Why do we
struggle waiting on the Lord for an answer?
Have
you ever stood in a line, waited for appointments, or been stuck in traffic?
How about sitting by the phone waiting for a call? Or watching the clock to
see it just tick ever so slowly?
Let's get
going, move on, can't you go any faster? The truth is we are even more
impatient when it comes to waiting on the Lord. Most of us do not like our
plans to be delayed for any reason.
I,
personally, have been waiting all year for something to fall in its desired
place. I have even asked, “God, WHY???” I don't like the idea of staying put
and waiting for His door to open...maybe I can open it for Him. God doesn't
need our help...He needs our obedience in waiting for His proper time. We do
not get rewards for moving ahead of God.
When we
wait, we receive God's blessings and discover His will in our life. The
goodness of the Lord will be poured out when we choose to wait. (Lamentations
3:25)
When we
wait we see God at work. God will turn His efforts toward us for our gain
and also for the benefit of others. (Isaiah 64:4)
When we
wait we will receive answers to our prayers. God will reveal why we were
supposed to be patient. Sometimes we even see a new direction just by
waiting. (Psalm 40:1-3)
We need to
ask the Holy Spirit to develop our character in order to see what God's will
is in our life. It takes effort for us to be still. I have to just stay
put...stay in prayer. God will open His door.
God Bless,
Mike
