Is The Power of The Holy Spirit Necessary?

In order for us to accomplish God's plan for our lives we must have the Holy Spirit working with us.

Several Bible stories illustrate the power of the Holy Spirit, and why it's necessary to receive it in order for us to do God's work that He has planned for us:

1 Samuel 10:6.  When God told the prophet Samuel that he would meet a young man whom God had anointed to be a king.  When Samuel met Saul, he anointed him in oil and began to prophesy, saying, “The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy.”

1 Samuel 16.  The story of David and how he became king of Israel.  When Samuel saw David, the Lord said, “This is the one, anoint him.”  Samuel poured oil upon David's head.  And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him from that day on (vs. 12-13).

The first time Jesus spoke in the synagogue after His baptism, He stood up and read, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me..." (Luke 2:9-15).

If Saul, David, and even Jesus Himself needed the Holy Spirit, then how much more do we need the power of the Spirit of God to empower us?  With this Spirit we can accomplish all that God has called us to do.

God Bless,
 Mike Williams
