We have all experienced it. A song that just keeps running through your mind. It is not always a good thing to know the words to all those old rock’n roll songs that you cruised to in days gone past.
Sometimes a tune can start playing in your mind that isn’t from the radio. A few days ago my head’s tuner started playing a chorus from a song we used to sing in church…and one that I haven’t sung in years and years and years. I wondered if the words were from the Bible so I pulled out the old faithful KJV and sure enough, right there in II Timothy:
…for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able
to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Hmm, what does that really mean? And why is that chorus playing over and over in my mind. So I looked up higher on the page and found this:
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind.
Hmm, again. Have I been afraid of letting people know I’m a Christian. Have I found convenient reasons just to not bring it up…to avoid the subject. Yep, guilty as charged. But I do believe, and I am persuaded, and I know that He is keeping that which I have committed unto Him. Wow, I’m going out in power and love and with a sound mind to tell someone about that!
