On a recent flight on American Eagle airlines, I noticed an ad campaign slogan that caught my attention. It said: Know it … Learn it … Live it. I could not help but relate this to our lives as believers and the interesting parallels.
As we grow and develop in our walk with Christ, we are admonished to increase our awareness of God’s Word. But it demands more than merely reading the Word. It requires that we know it, that we then learn it, and that we ultimately live it.
I discovered long ago that knowing the Bible is not enough. We also have to learn it. That means we need to apply it to our lives and allow its divine truths and principles to impact our day-to-day life. It is one thing to know God’s Word; it is quite another thing to learn how to apply it to our lives.
But even that is not enough. We must also live God’s Word. Too many people go through life knowing God’s Word but not living it. It has been wisely said that “the Bible was not meant to be read; it was meant to be lived.” How true.
So I encourage you as you progress in your spiritual walk with Christ, to know God’s Word, to learn God’s Word, and then to effectively live God’s Word. Then, and only then, will you know the full power and impact that God’s truths are designed to have in our lives.
