God’s ways or
our ways?
This is being written at the close of Memorial
Day. A day to remember those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice for our
freedoms and way of life. A day to enjoy burgers, hot dogs and Grace's home
made potato salad with our son, Mike, and Miz Danielle (Southern
pronunciation) today.
Mike has been dating her for about a year now.
They moved in together for a while (not with our blessings) but then decided
against it. She is a sweet kid, goes to church with us on special occasions,
but not a believing Christian. So Grace and I have been praying that God
will bring a nice Christian girl into Mike’s life.
Several weeks ago, Danielle went to church with
us and told us afterward that she felt God is talking to her heart. The next
week she and Grace attended a mother-daughter luncheon at the church. They
were in the elevator and the youth Sunday school director got on the next
floor. Grace introduced them and Danielle was invited to attend with the
20-25 year old class....surprise, she said yes. A few weeks later she walked
forward, made a profession of faith and accepted Christ. She gets baptized
June 19th!
As I said, we were praying for a nice Christian
girl to come into Mike's life...we just didn't expect it to be her. When
will I ever learn? God's ways are not our ways. He has something better in
store.
Godspeed,
Mike
