God allows us to be involved in many activities during our lives, but He
has strong aspirations for us to include Him in all we do. God knows that we
can’t give Him twenty-four hours a day, but we can give Him moments and minutes
of this precious thing called time. Acknowledging Him in everything helps
strengthen our connection.
There’s a saying about the Bible: This book will keep you from sin, but
sin will keep you from this book. If you don’t drive full throttle into the
Scriptures and seek to grasp them with all of your heart, it’s easy to become
complacent about how to live God’s way. He has the very best plan for each of us.
But unless we spend time with Him, the details of that plan may only be known
to Him. God’s heart longs to beat in unison with our heart, therefore we must
continually work at developing the relationship.
The same is true in our prayer life. If we don’t cultivate a life
dedicated to communicating our heart to God, it can become easy to forget about Him.
Oh sure, you ask Him from time-to-time about a few things, but do you realize
the importance of talking to and hearing from Him. Prayer will always remain
one of the mysteries of our faith, yet prayer is a simple act and a comfort to
believers—who from the beginning of time have turned with confidence to God.
The Bible emphasizes the simplicity of prayer. We are to pray about everything,
confident that God hears our prayers. God’s people speak to Him, call on Him,
and cry out to Him.
While there are no “conditions” that a person must meet before God will
hear prayer. The Bible provides indicators that force our attention back to
the quality of our personal relationship with God. Even the most heinous
criminal who honestly and desperately calls out to God will be heard. But, those
whose lives demonstrate that they have no significant relationship with God (the
unjust, the unconcerned, and the disobedient) have no basis on which to expect
prayers to be heard.
If we are not communicating with our heavenly Father, then we are leaving
ourselves open to getting signals from someone else to direct our paths. The
devil is depicted as “a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter
5:8) A lack of prayer time leaves you vulnerable, and often times
unknowingly unprotected and wide open to be preyed upon by an enemy whose whole design
is to devour and destroy.
Our love for God is to be marked by faith, trust, and obedience.
Therefore prayer is our most intimate form of communication with Him. Let your prayers
reflect the feelings of your heart. Talk to Him openly about everything. He
created you to have fellowship with Himself. As you follow His leading in
prayer, you grow closer to Him. We’ve all had someone somewhere praying for us
during our lifetime—maybe somebody you don’t even know has made a difference in
your life through the power of prayer.
As we resist becoming the devil’s prey by remaining steadfast in our
faithful relationship to God, wonderful things happen. Isn’t it amazing what a
prayer can do. It can give you passion, patience, peace, perseverance, pleasure,
promises, and purpose. We at Team RFC pray for a lot of you, and specifically
that you pray and not become prey! It’s your choice on how you spell it.
