A HEART LIKE
GOD’S?
We get a window into God’s
heart by reading about the life of Jesus. We see a man who spent time with
the Bible scholars of the day. But He seems to have spent most of his time
reaching out to those in the worst spiritual shape. We read the account in
John 4 where He reaches out to the woman at the well. First note his
attitude of caring love as he reaches out. Aware of whom she was – a hated
and rejected race, a woman who had 5 husbands and now lived with a man she to
whom she was not married.
To have Jesus reflected in our
lives, we must learn to do as He did. That may mean going places where we
feel uncomfortable. Jesus died for every soul, we need to ask ourselves, “Do
we care and reach out to all of them? Am I willing to associate with those
like the woman at the well in order to reach them?” They likely will never
experience the love of God unless we show it to them through our lives.
Prayer – Lord help me to see the people of this world
through your eyes. Give me the compassion for each person that you have.
Forgive me for each time I have over looked someone because they were
different than I think I am.
