Someday all of us will be standing together in heaven's presence. We'll ask the natural questions of one another like "what did you do on earth, what were your goals, your accomplishments?" My supercharger, which I treasured so much, will be laying corroded on some long forgotten beach along side the rubble of Herod's palace. That is where things go that are not of God.
While we are busy talking of our earthly accomplishments a voice with a mighty whisper will resound..."Great Mike, but who did you bring with you?" While I am busy counting on my fingers, you will be able to look over your shoulder and see the hundreds that you influenced for Christ. You just never realized the residual effect of your public profession of faith. So take comfort and encourage one another with that future assurance.
Meanwhile what of your trials here on earth? Take solace in the words of one of my favorite hymns:
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
And our strength has failed before the day is half done.
When we come to the end of our heart and resources,
Our Father's full giving has only begun.
