Passing the Test

God gives us a test almost every day. 

You can’t study for this test; it is a test of where your heart is.  Sometimes it’s a little one, some times it’s big. 

For instance, I help my dad put on a car show at his church (this year’s date is Saturday, September 17, in Burbank, IL).  We’re going on our 8th year now and this thing just keeps growing.  Last year we had almost 200 cars. 

But especially in the earlier years, people would come to the show in what appeared to be their everyday beater car.  You know the kind, a brown mid-80’s 4-door sedan that gave you no clue why it would be entered in a car show. 

To make things worse, these were always the people who would cause by far the most problems.  They would complain about what class they were in, or where they were parked, or anything and everything else.  We could never figure out why they came. 

Yet recently it dawned on me.  God was testing us.  He was looking to see if we were in it for our own purposes, or if we were trying to do God’s evangelism and bring people to the church.  He must be pleased with the results, as this has become quite an event. A number of people joined the church because they were brought there by the car show. 

So keep your eyes open and you intentions in the right place!  You never know when God is giving you a little test.
