He is Risen, Indeed!

Grace Lee, my bride, is really into flowers and birds, (What can I tell ya...Men are from Mars, women from Venus), so this is really her time of year. She sees the Master's hand in the perfection of every new life renewed at springtime. (I see it as time to head from the "Gators" to Rockingham.)

She shared a marvelous story about a small finch that nests in South America. This little bird is vulnerable to predators so it builds its nest in the shape of a hollow sphere. (Her young are now hidden inside from danger) She leaves only a small hole as an entrance. The hole is so small that when she pokes her head inside to feed her young almost all light is blocked out. How does she see to feed them? Easy......they are born with phosphorescent feathers on either side of their beaks that glow in the dark. They fall out later, (not the birds--the feathers). All she has to do is aim between the lights. Neat, huh?

So what has this got to do with the important stuff, like how much backlash should I set in the new spool on the race car? Grace reminds me of what's really important...if that is how much God cares for his littlest of creatures, can you imagine the wonderful plans he has for his greatest creation---- mankind. Oh, yeah. I knew that.

To the friends of RFC, Easter is coming up. This is no fairy tale. This is the celebration of the greatest event in human history. Why do I believe this so strongly? Because Peter "wimped out." When they asked him about his association with Christ his answer was basically "never heard of the guy."

But years later when Peter was to be crucified for preaching about Christ he asked to be crucified upside down, an even more painful way to die. What changed? How did a wimp get such strength and conviction? Only seeing the risen Christ could have changed him from a coward to someone utterly afraid of death.

This Easter, be an example for your friends and kids. Go to church. Listen to the story, tell your kids about Peter. God will say: "Well done".

Godspeed,
Mike Schacter
