Wheels of Glory
If I were to define what a wheel is, I would describe it as a
disc with a center axis that is used to move something. How much do we take
this invention for granted? Most of our earthly needs come to us on wheels.
Food, for one thing, comes in trucks and on trains. They move on wheels. If
it does come on boats or planes, it still takes wheels to get it to the
store. Then we pick it up on our wheels.
A single wheel can make the transportation of
heavy items like wood, cement, and gravel easy; it’s called a wheel barrow.
Sometimes, we do give wheels a little notoriety when we dress them up. It's
called the “World of Wheels” car show, and I had to pay $12 to see them. I
love wheels and have been playing with them since I was one year old. Can
you remember the joy you felt when you got your first set of wheels?
As we know, wheels have made it into the world of sports. When a
set of wheels competes against another set of wheels, we call it racing.
From the ancient days of chariots to our day of stockcar, dragster, R. C.
and, of course, kart racing, wheels have been involved in sports. One
distinguishing fact about a kart is that their wheels are small. Although
they are small they are required to move things like people very fast. To do
this its takes a precision axis (axle) bearing joined to a balanced wheel
with tire. I love having those wheels within inches of my body spinning very
fast and having another person within inches of my wheels doing the same.
Wheels are fun.
I enjoy being a “wheel” for God. I want to be used to move
things for God. I don't want to be a big wheel, but to be a small wheel that
could be taken for granted. That is fine, as long as where I move is to His
glory. If I can move His Word, and that Word changes hearts, then that would
be wonderful.
Hebrews 4: 12 says, "For the word of God is
living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to
dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow: it judges the thoughts and
attitudes of the heart." The next verse does just that. "Nothing in all
creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare
before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Now with me being a
wheel delivering this message to you, move your heart to call out to Jesus.
He will save you from your sin. He loved us enough to go to the cross, to
shed His blood and die for our sins. Trust what he did for you. Then you
will want to be a wheel for Him too.
