Sometimes it is simply difficult to carry on. Circumstances can wear down on us whether it’s at school, at work, at home, or in your hobby. If you are in competitive motorsports or you enjoy a machine for street or show…well, you know what I mean!
I ran a few seasons of short track, but became weary of being a field filler. I’d buy classic cars, but would never have the cash to finish them. It’s not always easy to keep a positive outlook in situations such as these.
Sometimes the Christian life is like that as well. We can become bogged down with woes: family, work, health, financial, even church woes! We can tend to look back at all the errors we’ve made, and put ourselves down. Whenever that threatens to happen, I try to remember a passage penned by the Apostle Paul. I share it with you here…and here’s a suggestion. Print it out, post it someplace where you need to see it, or better yet, memorize it—
“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind, and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:13b-14, NIV.
This helps to put aside our past and to point us in the right direction. For our goal is eternal…and for that it is worth it to keep on keepin’ on!
