Well, it looks like we are all having a bummer weekend. The NHRA Winternationals got rained out. (Not to great if you are the official NHRA chaplain, huh?)
Me? I have a 14-hour exercise to get to Vancouver, Washington. (And that is the good part). The bad part is that the return trip is worse. An 11:15 pm red eye flight to Chicago, arrive 4:45 am. Then a 4-hour layover and connection…not home to Virginia Beach but to Charlotte and then Virginia Beach. Arrives 1:15 PM. (that means afternoon by the way) Kidding.
Why am I telling you this? Because I am a whiner, that’s why! Seriously, I am trying to follow my Dad’s advice: “Son, don’t over react, don’t let it come to the boiling point”.
But then…as I said Grace over lunch in the airport, my real Father asked the Holy Spirit to whisper in my ear. “Mike, do you believe in eternity? I mean do you really believe?” “Yes father I do,” I answered. “Then all of this is pretty insignificant …isn’t it?”
When I gave my soul to Christ, He gave me a present, the Holy Spirit. He told me that we may not always be able to control our circumstances, but he will not give me any burden that is beyond my ability. He said we may not be able to change the circumstances, but He will lift me up to rise above those circumstances. Remember, “Greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world”. Oh yeah, I knew that.
He works in many strange and wonderful ways, doesn’t He?
Just a little note and reminder for all of us.
Attached is a picture of the progress on our Altered racecar I explained to my partner Steve, I don’t want a racecar…I want a Hot Rod. The mule motor is to get us started (and not over our heads). The computer shows low nine second runs at about 140 mph. With the blower motor, high sevens at 160 mph. (gulp!) Well if it crashes, I gotta plan… I’ll tell my wife Grace that Steve was driving.
