 Who Cares?

"Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life" Psalm 142:4 Within the vast number of Christians today, many may privately ask the question: "who cares for my life?" Building disciples requires more than a transfer of facts--they need a transfer of life--yours into theirs. Their immediate need is to have a flesh-and-blood model of Christlikeness, not a fiery message of condemnation. They truly want a spiritual father or mother who will consistently demonstrate who God is for them. Sadly, today, too many believers are floundering in their Christian walk and must deal with far too much loneliness simply because they lack someone willing to impart to them the practical, livable truths the Bible teaches. The critical need is for someone to personally care for them--the way God cares for us. It does require time and personal sacrifice. It was more than twenty years ago that a very insightful person said: "People will never care how much we know until they first know how much we care." Today, the need is as great as ever; to care for people in tangible ways. One of which is discipleship-relationships. One-on-one training and mentoring provides the less-experienced disciple with valuable tools and a model to accelerate the process of becoming Christlike. Discipleship is every believer's privilege and responsibility. What could be more rewarding and fulfilling than to know that God has used you to affect someone else's life for all eternity. Imagine the thrill when we gather in heaven to talk about our days on earth and the many who may draw close to you, desiring to give thanks that you were the one who cared enough to invest your life into theirs. How many will there be that give thanks to God for the love and concern he instilled in you that resulted in their having a spiritual life? Think about it.
